MEMBERSHIP INFORMATION

Line Avenue Business Association began in 1989 as a group of retailers interested in serving the customer and the safety of the Line Avenue shopping district. Today the group consists of many types of businesses from, retailers, financial, professional and restaurants to other service businesses. The LABA focuses on promoting the group as a whole. Our focus is to let people in Shreveport and Bossier know that doing business on Line Avenue means doing business with mostly locally owned operations whose owners give personal service and could be their next-door neighbor.

The following are projects and information that our association takes part in yearly:

1) LABA holds meetings semi-annual meetingsto keep its members informed and allow a time for exchange of ideas and information the association deems important. Potential members are encouraged to attent & mingle with current members.

2) "Taste of Line Avenue" is held in the fall to raise money for the association to use toward the annual holiday decoration project. This event is traditionally held at Pierremont Mall and features not only food but also any member wishing to come showcase their business. We also offer, for a fee, a chance for non-members to participate.

3) Our marketing plan is simple; for business or pleasure, make Line Avenue a destination. Word of mouth and service are, of course, the best advertising for all of our businesses. The association publishes a brochure approximately every 12-18 months that includes all current members. This brochure is distributed in our businesses and throughout the state by the LTPA (Louisiana Travel Promotion Assoc.). It is in visitor's centers across the state. By distributing this brochure, we have become well known. Each year we establish a budget to help promote our various members and their businesses. We have print ads in several local publications and radio spots on local stations.

4) The LABA several years ago decided that the Internet was the new frontier to conquer. Today, we are moving forward to expand out website and offer the same listings as the brochure on the Internet. We also add links to our members' own websites and update the information to keep the public informed.

LABA is an energetic group, which is going into the next century with a positive and community-oriented message. "You'll find it all on Line Avenue," Shreveport's Main Street.

We'd love to have you join us.
